The TurnRake yard at the works building — brick and slate under a clock tower, with rakes of wagons standing on the loop beyond

Four turntables · one closed loop · four gaps

Drive the rake.
Turn the deck.
Sort the yard.

Push a line of wagons and everything ahead of it slides until it hits. Turning a turntable is the only way to lift a wagon onto a different track — and the whole spin costs one move.

The goal, in plain words

Line up every car of one color on the same stretch of track.

One livery to a road.

In the yard, a color is a livery and a stretch of track is a road. The cars are wagons; a line of them coupled together is a rake. That is the whole vocabulary — every other sentence in the game decodes from it.

A TurnRake yard mid-problem, with liveries scattered across every road
Mid-problem. Every road holds a little of everything.
A finished TurnRake yard, each road holding a single livery from end to end
Finished. One livery to a road, engines off the roads.

Read the yard

Two moves. That is the entire machine.

There is nothing to memorize and no hidden rule. Everything that makes TurnRake hard comes out of these two moves meeting a yard with almost no room in it.

Drive a rake

Grab any wagon and everything ahead of it moves, sliding until it hits something. Grab one in the middle of a packed line and a gap opens behind it — that gap is what you are really moving.

Turn a deck

A turntable spins freely and snaps to the nearest quarter. It is the only way a wagon changes track — and however far you turn it, the whole spin counts as one move.

Full yard

Run straight through

The center table carries one track across its diameter. Lined up, it joins two opposite spokes into one long road and a rake runs clean through the middle. Turned the other way, both become dead ends.

A finished yard locks itself: at the solved position nothing can slide at all, and only the decks will turn.

Eleven wagons

Color is one channel. Shape is the other.

Every livery in a yard wears a different body, so a rake reads by silhouette as well as by color. Tap any wagon to enlarge it, then step through the fleet with the arrows.

Seven yards

The ladder is how many colors have to fit.

Each rung adds a livery and a deeper scramble. The last two open the center table and a fifth color that finishes on the roads through the middle.

The Full Yard unlock

One payment. A different machine.

The free yard is the whole puzzle, four colors deep. The unlock adds the parts that change how it works rather than just how big it is:

  • Three deeper rungs — Expert, Roundhouse, and Yardmaster.
  • The center table — through running across the middle of the yard.
  • A fifth livery — the color that finishes on the center roads.
  • Three more wagons — the grain hopper, the sliding-roof van, and the loaded mineral open.
